WHAT IS DOWN SYNDROME?

People with Down syndrome have 47 chromosomes, compared to 46 in an ordinary person. In fact, there is only a difference of +1 chromosome between us and them. The fact that a person has 1 more chromosome makes itself clearly visible, especially in physical appearance. Characteristic symptoms of Down syndrome include slanted eyes, two eyes that are far apart and a flattened root of the nose.

Down syndrome is not a treatable disorder. The aim of the therapy is to help children with Down syndrome to be included in the flow of life and to lead a harmonious life with those around them.
Methods for children with Down syndrome include:

– Physical or occupational therapy
– Speech therapy
– Participating in special education programs at school
– Treatment of underlying medical conditions
– Wearing glasses for vision problems or hearing aids for hearing loss

These and other therapies and supportive treatments aim to develop and improve the sensory, social, motor, language and mental skills of people with Down syndrome. As a result of these improvements, it is aimed to include the person in life.

THE AIM OF OUR PROJECT

To positively affect the perception of disability in society, to draw attention to the difficulties faced by people with Down Syndrome, to provide equal opportunities and to increase their integration with society.

People with Down Syndrome can take part in business life thanks to employment training. Thanks to their support, it is possible for them to participate in life fully independently and build a happy life. Their acquisition of a profession positively affects their personal development and contributes to the economy of their country.

With this NFT project, we wanted to draw attention to the fact that both men and women with Down Syndrome can have a profession with the necessary support.
